Terms of Service

Last updated September 28, 2026. These terms cover every project and plan with High:Tech. If you’ve signed a proposal or contract with us, that document wins wherever the two differ.

01Quotes and scope

• Every project gets a written quote listing exactly what’s included. Quotes are good for 30 days.
• Anything not in your quote is out of scope. If you want to add something, we’ll send a written change request with the price and any timeline change before we start.
• Prices on our website are starting points, not quotes.

02Payment

• Projects under $10,000: 50% to start, 50% before launch.
• Projects of $10,000 or more: 40% to start, 30% at design approval, 30% before launch.
• Deposits are non-refundable once work begins.
• Monthly plans (Care and Orbit) are billed in advance, on the same day each month.
• Invoices are due within 14 days. If a payment is more than 10 days late, work and support pause until it’s paid. After 30 days we may end the agreement.
• Third-party costs (hosting, domains, Shopify, email, apps, stock photos, fonts) are paid by you directly to those companies unless your quote says otherwise.

03What we need from you

• The content, brand assets and account access listed in our onboarding checklist, by the dates we agree on.
• One main contact who can give feedback and approve work.
• Replies within 2 business days. Our timelines assume this, so when replies slow down, deadlines move with them.
• If we don’t hear from you for 30 days, your project is paused. After 60 days without contact we may close it. The deposit is kept, and restarting may need a new quote.

04Revisions

• Each website build includes 2 rounds of revisions. A round is one written list of changes, sent together.
• Revision requests must be sent in writing within 30 days of receiving the final build.
• Extra rounds are billed at our hourly rate.
• Revisions cover changes to the agreed design and content. New pages, features or a new direction are change requests.

05Timelines

• Timelines in your quote are estimates, based on getting what we need on time.
• Rush timelines are available for an extra 30% and include fewer revision rounds.

06Launch and approval

• We launch once you approve in writing.
• If we deliver the final build and don’t hear back within 10 business days, the project counts as approved and the final invoice is due.

07Bug fixes after launch

• For 30 days after launch we fix genuine bugs for free: anything that doesn’t work the way it was built to.
• This doesn’t cover changes made by you or anyone else, problems caused by hosting or third-party services, or new requests.

08Ownership

• Once you’ve paid in full, you own your finished website, its design and your content. Until then, we do.
• Everything you send us stays yours. You confirm you have the rights to use it, including photos, logos, text and fonts.
• Themes, plugins, fonts, stock images and other third-party pieces stay under their own licenses.
• We keep ownership of our general tools, code, components and methods that aren’t specific to your site, and may reuse them in other work. We never reuse your design, branding or content.
• We may show your project in our portfolio unless you ask us not to in writing.

09Accounts, hosting and passwords

• Your domain, hosting, email, store, payment and analytics accounts are set up in your name, and you add us as a user.
• Share passwords only through the secure method we give you, never by email or text.
• When a project ends without an ongoing plan, we remove our access.

10Third-party services

• Hosting companies, Shopify, Stripe, Square, Google, email platforms and other tools are run by other companies under their own terms.
• We aren’t responsible for their outages, price changes, policy changes or shutdowns, but Care and Orbit clients get our help dealing with them.

11Monthly plans

• Care and Orbit are month to month. Cancel any time with 30 days’ written notice.
• Included edit hours don’t roll over.
• Orbit can be paused for up to one month a year at no charge.
• Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Eastern, excluding holidays.
• An emergency means your site is down or customers can’t check out. Care and Orbit clients get priority response. Everyone else is billed at 1.5 times our hourly rate, with a one-hour minimum.

12Rates

• Work outside a quote or plan is billed at $110 an hour, in 30-minute increments, after you approve it.

13Your legal responsibilities

• You’re responsible for your business’s legal compliance, including privacy policies, terms, return policies, product claims, taxes and licenses.
• We build to accessibility best practices and check against WCAG 2.2 AA, but we can’t guarantee your site meets every law. We don’t give legal, tax or financial advice.

14Limits of liability

• Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the project or plan it relates to (for monthly plans, the last three months of fees).
• We aren’t liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost data or other indirect damages.
• You agree to cover claims that come from the materials you give us or how you use your site.

15Ending a project

• Either of us can end a project in writing. You pay for work completed up to that point, and the deposit is non-refundable.
• We hand over any finished work that’s been paid for.

16Confidentiality

• We keep your business information, logins and data private, and use them only to do your work.

17Everything else

• These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• We may update these terms. Changes don’t affect an agreement you’ve already signed.
